Stranded Treasures emulates the beauty of flowers and brings elegance and a timeless fashion to each piece of wearable art. About the Artist, Sharlene Maher
Sharlene was born and raised in northern New Jersey and after graduating college, she moved to San Francisco for a change of scenery. "I had no idea what I wanted to do for a living." As she worked various jobs, mostly behind a computer, her other waking hours were spent artistically. Whether she was soapmaking, gardening, sewing, or designing jewelry, it was unknowlingly obvious she was paving the path towards her future career. And the history, beauty and culture of her surroundings would offer plenty of influence. After seven years and a trip to Costa Rica, Sharlene and her husband relocated to the quaint coastal town of Stuart, Florida. As Sharlene settled down, she became more focused on jewelry design. "I began sculpting when I was looking for a specific flower bead style but could not find it. I decided to pick up a block of clay and make it myself." One flower developed into another, her jewelry designs expanded and her business was formed. The flowers in Sharlene's shop are made with much time and consideration to her customers' suggestions, requests and feedback. She is always working on new styles, also paying attention to colors and trends without straying too far from the unique nature of her designs. All flowers are carefully sculpted using a durable polymer clay. This material is also waterproof allowing you to wipe it with a damp cloth or rinse under water. Petals are formed and some binded together securely, so they are sure to last. "I absolutely love what I do from designing and packaging to interacting with customers and will only offer quality handmade products and personalized friendly service." Stranded Treasures is owned and operated by Sharlene Maher and after years of building her collection, has become her full-time career. Questions or comments? Contact me. |
